Kent Corporation partners with MAKE, selling STAHL robotic slitting tool storage and handling system

NORTH ROYALTON, OH (Feb. 3rd, 2022) – Kent Corporation, a leading manufacturer of coil strip processing equipment, announced today a partnership with MAKE, a world leader in robotic slitting tool automation.

MAKE is a subsidiary of MTM Group, based in Spinea, Italy. MAKE focuses on automation that manages slitting tool storage, handling, inspection and cleaning.

Kent Corporation will offer MAKE’s STAHL robotic slitting tool storage and handling system.

“The MAKE partnership allows Kent Corporation to add world-leading technology in slitting tool storage and handling to our robust product line,” says Kent Corporation President David Tsai. “We continually strive to add products that make us the one source our customers need.”

The STAHL robot comes in two standard layout options, but can be designed to customer specification and space, making it a customizable choice for removing physical interaction with tooling. This means integrating a STAHL robot increases worker safety and reduces the chance for errors.

The STAHL system allows you to store all slitting tooling efficiently, in a dust-free cabin. The system options including inspecting edges for water, cleaning tools, tool code reading and building up the next stack for production. Another option allows you to build up the next stack directly from your ERP system.

Tool damage is reduced with proper handling, inspection and cleaning systems in place.

“With the STAHL system, the robot knows each tool location and pulls tooling according to the required stack up needs, ensuring precisely slit coils every time,” says Tsai.

The robot can clean tools between cycles and inspect edges, notifying operators when tooling needs sharpened.

Throughput with the STAHL robot typically is higher than manual tool change, a benefit that’s magnified with the robot’s ability to work lights out.

“We feel the addition of the STAHL robotic slitting tool storage and handling will offer meaningful benefits for our customers’ operations and look forward to providing these solutions through our partnership with MAKE,” says Tsai.
